Increase your Email Open Rate with Video in 2017

Who doesn’t want a better email open rate?

If you’re not putting videos in your email, you’re missing out.  Adding video leads to spikes in opens, conversions, and sales. Even if you don’t produce the video yourself, just having one in your message draws left-clicks to links like a sticky armadillo tongue to an ant hill.

A Study by Implix showed introductory emails with video increased click-through rates by as much as 96%. Researchers looked at results for almost a billion emails sent after the launch of Get Response 6.0. Emails with video had 5.6% greater open rates and 96.38% higher click-through rates on average than those without video.

Raise your email open rate

In another study, Forrester Research interviewed marketing executives. They found that including videos without sound, animated GIFs, and clickable screenshots increased click-through rates by 200-300%.

With video quickly becoming the medium of choice for consumers, we’re going to see more and more of it.

To take advantage of the trend, use these 7 tips to boost your opens, clicks, and engagement with video:

1 – Add the word “video” in your email subject line with a down arrow to improve open and click-through rates

2 – Paste a video screenshot with a play arrow in your email. Then tell your readers to click the video (yes, you actually have to tell them) … Link the graphic to the video on your site or landing page

3 – Use videos to deliver your main email messages. Want a great example? Check out Darren Harding’s 5-minute morning Darren Daily mentoring videos

4 – Welcome new list members to your community with a warm, personal video

5 – Grab your viewer’s attention in the first 10 seconds of your video. Visible Measures found that 20% of viewers click away during that time

6 – Link to a video embedded in a sales page as a powerful part of your launch sequence

7 – Invite your readers to submit their own videos. Make it part of a contest for membership or free course enrollment. The Institute for Integrative Nutrition did this recently. The contest directly engaged prospects … and entries acted as inspirational advertisements for the school (brilliant … and perfectly targeted)

A final caveat: stats show cheap-looking videos can lose sales. Don’t be tempted by systems that promise to make 100 videos with a couple of keywords and a short script.
